Sarumi made the call while reacting to the successful rescue of the abducted students and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the development as a source of immense relief to families, the Ogbomoso community and the nation at large.

In a statement, the Islamic leader urged the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, governors and local government chairmen to prioritize the reduction of unemployment, provision of critical infrastructure, improved educational standards, community development and the promotion of justice.

He noted that the rescue of the 39 students and seven teachers, who regained their freedom on Friday, July 10, 2026, after spending 57 days in captivity, had restored hope to parents, guardians, school proprietors, teachers, religious bodies and well-meaning Nigerians.

Sarumi, however, expressed sympathy to the families of the teachers and security personnel who lost their lives during the incident, praying for the peaceful repose of their souls.

He commended the courage and professionalism of the military, security agencies and other stakeholders whose coordinated efforts led to the successful rescue of the abductees.

The First Basorun Musulumi also congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to safeguarding lives and property, saying the successful rescue demonstrated the importance of sustained collaboration among security agencies.

He equally appreciated Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies throughout the rescue operation.

Sarumi also praised the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, alongside other traditional rulers and chiefs, for their unwavering support and prayers during the period of the abduction.

While thanking Almighty Allah for making the rescue operation successful, Sarumi stressed that security remains a collective responsibility, urging greater cooperation among all tiers of government, traditional institutions, religious leaders and communities to confront the nation’s security challenges.

He further emphasized that governments must complement security measures with deliberate socio-economic interventions, including job creation for youths, improved educational opportunities and strengthened community development, to address the root causes of insecurity and ensure lasting peace.
