The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Alhaja Sidikat Basiru, the mother of its National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.
Alhaja Basiru died at the age of 92.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC described the deceased as a devout Muslim, a woman of virtue and compassion, and a revered matriarch who dedicated her life to faith, sacrifice, and selfless service.
The party said Alhaja Basiru raised her children on strong values of discipline, integrity, and the fear of Allah, noting that her exemplary character and religious devotion were reflected in the public service record of Senator Basiru and her other accomplished children.
The statement, issued on behalf of the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the National Working Committee, party leaders, members, and supporters, conveyed heartfelt condolences to Senator Basiru and the entire Basiru family.
“The APC mourns the passing of Alhaja Sidikat Basiru, the beloved mother of our National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, Ph.D., at the age of 92,” the statement read.
The party prayed that Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings, accepts her righteous deeds, and grants her eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
The condolence message follows an earlier announcement by Senator Basiru, who paid glowing tribute to his late mother, describing her as a woman whose love, sacrifices, and devotion to Allah shaped the lives of her children.
