Senator Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced the passing of his mother Alhaja Sidikat Abake Basiru
Sidikat Abake Basiru died in the early hours of Sunday 28th, June 2026
Basiru disclosed the news in an emotional tribute shared on his social media platforms, expressing gratitude to Allah for her life of devotion and service to humanity.
He wrote: “Alhamdulilah for a life well spent in devotion to Allah and service to humanity! I will always remember your love and the sacrifice to enable us be who Allah destined us to be. I love you Maami but I accept that we belong to Allah and to Him we shall all return someday! May ALLAH forgive you and grant you Aljanna Firdaus.”
The APC chieftain described his late mother as a loving and sacrificial woman whose unwavering support and prayers helped shape the lives of her children.
As of the time of filing this report, the family has yet to announce details of her burial arrangements.
The announcement has since drawn condolences from political associates, friends, and well-wishers, who have prayed for the repose of her soul and comfort for the bereaved family.
