The Oyo State Government has lifted the curfew earlier imposed on 10 local government areas following the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area, assuring residents that security agencies remain on top of the situation.
The government had initially imposed a 16-hour curfew on the affected communities as part of measures to restore order and strengthen security operations. The restriction was later extended by an additional day on Thursday.
Announcing the lifting of the curfew in a statement issued on Saturday, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, said residents are now free to resume their normal daily activities.
He expressed appreciation to the people of the affected local government areas for their cooperation, patience, and understanding throughout the period of the restriction.
Prince Oyelade said the state government is closely monitoring the security situation and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
He also assured residents that concerted efforts by security agencies and the government are ongoing to bring the kidnapping incident to a successful conclusion and prevent similar occurrences.
The commissioner urged members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security operatives, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
