An unidentified woman has been found dead inside a church premises in the Obelewo area of Osogbo, Osun State, with her left wrist reportedly severed and taken away by unknown persons.
The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, saying police detectives had visited the scene following the discovery of the body.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had allegedly been slaughtered, while her left wrist was severed and removed by unknown persons.
Iniedu said the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, as well as the motive for the killing, had yet to be established.
He said, “The investigations revealed that the deceased was slaughtered and her left wrist severed and taken away by unknown persons.”
The police spokesperson added that efforts were ongoing to establish the identity of the deceased and unravel the circumstances surrounding her death.
He further disclosed that the corpse had been deposited at a hospital mortuary for autopsy.
The State Command’s Investigation Department has commenced an investigation into the incident, while efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased and apprehend those responsible.
