The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon (HRM) Oba Francis Alao has paid a tribute to elder statesman Dr. Saka Balogun on attaining the age of 90 years today.
In his congratulatory press release on Wednesday, Oba Alao joined family, friends and well-wishers in thanking God for preserving the frontline politician to climb the nonagenarian ladder, describing it as a symbolic blessing.
The monarch highlighted Dr. Balogun’s leadership qualities and community service profile which partly earned him the distinguished chieftaincy title of Balogun of Ogbomosoland and Chairman, Oyo State Elders’ Council.
Oba Alao said Dr. Balogun is a notable politician, respected academic and community leader whose values inspire new generation of leaders.
The statement read in part: “For your seven decades of adulthood, you grew among your people, enriching decision-making with your wisdom, serving your community, Oyo State and Nigeria at large with integrity. Your contributions to academics, community progress and national development are notable as you tread the path of uprightness and patriotism with humility. Younger Nigerian leaders have a lot to learn from your values and inspiring leadership.
“As you join the league of nonagenarians today, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on behalf of Olori Olushola Adedoyin-Alao and the good people of Orile-Igbon. I pray for good health and abiding grace to navigate this new chapter in your life.”
