The Organising Committee of the 5th Oluyole Amateur Open has unveiled plans for the 2026 edition of the championship, with leading corporate organisations throwing their weight behind what has become one of Nigeria’s foremost amateur golf tournaments.
The tournament, presented by Openfield Properties & Management Ltd., developers of the Oluyole Golf & Country Estate, Moniya, Ibadan, will hold from August 14 to 16, 2026, at the Ibadan Golf Club and is expected to attract over 150 amateur golfers, corporate executives, business leaders, investors and golf enthusiasts from across the country.
Speaking during the official media briefing in Ibadan on Tuesday, Tournament Convener, Folarin Laosun, described the fifth edition as a significant milestone in the competition’s journey, noting that the championship has continued to grow in stature and national relevance.
According to him, the tournament has evolved beyond a golf competition into a platform that promotes sports tourism, youth development, corporate partnerships and economic opportunities while showcasing Ibadan as one of Nigeria’s leading golfing destinations.
“The fifth edition of the Oluyole Amateur Open represents a major milestone in our journey. Over the years, the championship has continued to grow in stature, attracting outstanding amateur golfers and respected corporate partners from across Nigeria. Our vision remains to build a world-class amateur golf championship that promotes excellence, strengthens partnerships and contributes meaningfully to sports tourism and economic development,” Laosun said.
He expressed appreciation to the tournament’s sponsors, partners, players and the golfing community for their continued support towards making the championship a success.
The organisers announced that the tournament will begin on Friday, August 14, with a practice round, followed by a welcome cocktail reception for sponsors, golfers, invited guests and members of the media.
The qualifying rounds will take place on Saturday, August 15, while participants and guests will later be treated to the colourful Oluyole Owambe Night featuring Nigerian cultural displays, live entertainment and networking opportunities.
The championship will climax on Sunday, August 16, with the finals and an awards presentation ceremony where winners in various categories will be honoured.
One of the major attractions of this year’s edition is the Hole-in-One Challenge, where golfers will have the opportunity to win a brand-new Chery Tiggo 8 Pro vehicle courtesy of Carloha Nigeria, the tournament’s Official Automotive Partner.
The organisers also announced an impressive list of corporate partners supporting the championship. Openfield Properties & Management Ltd. is the presenting sponsor, while Leadway Assurance, Guinness Nigeria Plc, Risevest, Mamuda Group, Shoreline Natural Resources Ltd., AMNI International Petroleum Development Company Limited and CKROWD are principal sponsors.
Carloha Nigeria is serving as the Official Automotive Partner, while Kasi Sports Healthcare is the Official Healthcare Partner for the championship.
