Lawmaker representing Ido/Osi state constituency at Ekiti House of Assembly member (APC – Ido-Osi II), Hon.Yomi Ayorinde, has felicitated with a former governor of the state, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on award of Doctor of Letters (Human Rights, National Integration and African Security Development) conferred on him by the Lagos State University (LASU).
Ayorinde, in a congratulatory message issued in Usi-Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti, described the award as long overdue, but coming at God appointed time.
“The award, which is well deserved, simply confirmed that his recent election as President of the Forum of Regions of Africa in Saidia, Morocco, distinguished him as a true son of the Fountain of Knowledge and Land of Honour.
“Congratulations to His Excellency on your sterling and dazzling successes. I always knew you could do it, and I am incredibly proud of you.
“I saw you work so hard everyday to achieve this accomplishment, and I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more. You set an amazing example for those of us that believes in you and your political followers.
“Indeed, His Excellency, Dr Kayode Fayemi, a two-time Governor of Ekiti state and a former Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum is not only a former Minister in Nigeria, but he has gone ahead to become one of the leaders of the African continent,”Ayorinde said.
The assembly-man thanked LASU for conferring the award on the illustrious son of Ekiti, who has distinguished himself as a private person, governor and particularly, a worthy leader, who remained steadfast in the pursuit of peace, effective policy formulation and people oriented development in the African continent.
He enjoined the Isan-Ekiti born former governor not to relent in seeking the best for humanity, not minding those intimidated by his achievements and increasing popularity.
Ayorinde, also a former board member, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), thanked former Gov. Kayode Fayemi for making the state an envy in the comity of States and globally.
He urged him to continue to mobilise other leaders for the task of ensuring the emergence of a new Africa, where progress and economic emancipation shall be the lot of the people, so that the continent could be reckoned with as a major contributor to the new world economy.
“On behalf of the people of my constitiency, we felicitate with our leader and former governor, on the well deserved award.
“I therefore want to use this opportunity to commend His Excellency for keeping to his tutoring promises, and not betraying the trust we, his followers reposed in him. We are proud of you,”Ayorinde said.
