Wolekanle Postpones 54th Birthday, Housewarming Over Banditry Attack in Oriire

Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, has announced the postponement of his 54th birthday celebration and housewarming ceremony earlier scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Akinwole said the decision was taken in response to the recent banditry attack in Oriire Local Government Area, which led to the abduction of students and teachers.

According to him, the tragic incident calls for sober reflection and solidarity with the victims and their families during this difficult period.

“It could have been anyone. This moment calls for sober reflection and identifying with the victims and their families in this moment of agony. I pray that Almighty God comforts us all and brings the victims back alive,” he said.

While commending the ongoing rescue efforts by Seyi Makinde and security agencies, Akinwole called for stronger inter-agency synergy and effective collaboration to ensure the safe return of the abducted victims and improve security across the state.
