The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, has called on Nigerians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, humility, and love exemplified during the Lenten season as Christians across the country celebrate Easter.
In an Easter message released on Friday, Wolekanle as he is foundly called said the just-concluded Lenten period offers profound lessons in self-denial, reflection, and spiritual renewal, urging citizens to translate these values into actions that promote unity and peaceful coexistence.
He noted that Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, symbolizes hope, victory over adversity, and the promise of new beginnings, adding that Nigerians should remain steadfast despite current socio-economic challenges.
“The lessons of Lent remind us of the importance of patience, compassion, and service to humanity. As we celebrate Easter, we must carry forward these virtues in our daily lives and work collectively for the progress of our communities,” he said.
Akinwole further enjoined public servants, particularly at the grassroots level, to rededicate themselves to efficient service delivery, stressing that local governments remain critical to sustainable development.
He also felicitated with Christians in Oyo State and across Nigeria, wishing them a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
The commission chairman reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the local government system in Oyo State, while urging citizens to remain hopeful and supportive of government efforts aimed at improving their welfare.
