Former Osun State Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Sir (Arc) Muyiwa Ige, has declared that he is the most qualified to occupy the position of 3rd Vice President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA).

In a message to fellow architects ahead of the NIA’s Biennial General Meeting (BGM) 2025, Ige, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (FNIA) and Knight of Saint Christopher (KSC), outlined his vision and mission for the institute if elected.

According to him, his aspiration is driven by a commitment to strengthen state chapters and subsidiaries of the NIA, making them “more vibrant, visible and catalysts for growth and empowerment.”

“We have a great future ahead, especially as we enter the next quarter of this glorious century toward 2050,” he said.

Ige, the son of the late Chief Bola Ige, former Attorney-General of the Federation, described the office of the 3rd Vice President as one that requires leadership charisma, selfless service and bridge-building capacity — qualities he said he embodies.

He noted that his campaign mission is anchored on six key pillars:

  • Promoting architectural instruction and practice
  • Responsibility in leadership
  • Collaboration for empowerment
  • Inclusiveness and innovation
  • Good governance and growth
  • Excellence in service

If elected, Ige pledged to pursue several specific goals, including “One Chapter, One Secretariat”, improved town and gown collaboration, and stronger partnerships with state and local governments to boost professional engagement and member empowerment.

“The 3rd Vice President is not only a President-in-waiting. The occupier of the post must be a leader who can inspire, connect, and serve selflessly. These are the qualities I bring to the table,” he affirmed.

He urged members of the NIA to mobilise, register, and vote for him during the convention scheduled for Saturday, November 29, 2025, promising not to disappoint if elected.

“Distinguished colleagues, the hour is near. I urge and encourage you to vote for me, Arc. Muyiwa Ige, FNIA, KSC, your candidate for the post of 3rd Vice President. I will not let you down,” he concluded.
