The Akire of Ikire Land in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Olatunde Falabi, has reportedly passed away.

Sources disclosed that the revered monarch died on Saturday, February 28, 2026. However, the circumstances surrounding his death were still unclear as of press time.

Oba Falabi, who recently marked his 91st birthday in January 2026, also celebrated 30 years on the throne this year — a remarkable reign that spanned three decades of traditional leadership in Ikire.

His reported passing has thrown the ancient town into mourning, with residents describing him as a custodian of culture and a stabilising force in the community.
