Hon Mojisola Meranda took her oath of office today as first female Speaker of The Lagos State House of Assembly. The 44 years old lawmaker took over the mantle of leadership after Hon Mudashiru Obasa was impeached during the plenary on Monday

. Early Life and Education
Mojisola Meranda was born in August 1980 in Lagos, Nigeria. She attended Randle Primary School, completing her primary education in 1992. She proceeded to Anglican Girls Grammar School and later Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary School, where she earned her West African Senior Certificate (WASC) in 1998.
2. Professional Qualifications
She obtained a Certificate in Software Development (Network Engineering) from NIIT and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Public Sector Management at the University of York, UK.
3. Early Career
Meranda began her political journey as a personal assistant to the senior special assistant in information technology and later became a personal assistant to the Director of the Land Information System Support Unit (LISSU) in the Surveyor General’s office.
She also worked as the office manager of Cirrus Nigeria Limited and served as managing director/CEO of Worthline International Services Limited, a company she founded.
4. Political Career
She served as senior special assistant on Intervention and Inter-Governmental Relations and as supervisor for Health in Apapa Local Government.
Meranda’s political involvement started with the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD), which evolved into the Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and eventually the All Progressives Congress (APC).
5. Legislative Journey
In 2015, she contested and won a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent her constituency.
During the 8th Assembly, she chaired key committees, including the House Committee on Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) and the House Committee on Establishment, Training, Pension, and Public Service.
Meranda’s trailblazing journey has now earned her the historic position of the first female speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly at the age of 44.
