
Vice President Kashim Shettima recently embarked on an assessment tour of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), where he expressed full confidence in the institution’s capacity to drive Nigeria’s agricultural growth.
During the visit, Shettima reiterated the Tinubu administration’s commitment to fostering an agricultural revolution aimed at boosting food production. He emphasized that this goal could be achieved through strategic partnerships with research and production institutions such as IITA, along with collaboration from volunteer partners.
The Vice President affirmed that the Tinubu administration is actively tackling Nigeria’s food security challenges, stating that the government is taking decisive steps to address the nation’s agricultural needs.
In light of the withdrawal of some specialized grants for the health and agricultural sectors, Shettima noted the increasing importance of looking inwards to ensure Nigeria’s self-sufficiency and sustainable growth in these critical areas.
