The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has called on Nigerians to reject the African Democratic Congress (ADC), its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections over allegations of unpaid staff salaries.
The council made the call in a press statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, by its spokesperson, Dele Alake, accusing the ADC National Working Committee, led by Senator David Mark as chairman and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as secretary, of failing to pay party staff for over a year.
The APC described the alleged non-payment of salaries as unacceptable, arguing that a political party seeking to govern Nigeria should demonstrate its commitment to workers’ welfare by fulfilling its obligations to its employees.
It said the development exposed what it described as the insincerity of ADC leaders who present themselves as alternatives to the current administration.
The council also accused Atiku of having a history of delayed salary payments to employees of his businesses, including Gotel Communications, claiming that some workers had gone months without pay and staged protests over unpaid salaries and other benefits.
Similarly, the APC criticised Aregbesola’s record on workers’ salaries and pensions during his eight-year tenure as governor of Osun State.
According to the statement, his administration introduced quarter-salary and half-salary payments amid financial difficulties, while pensioners allegedly went for more than four years without receiving their full entitlements.
The council claimed that the situation caused severe hardship for affected workers and pensioners, with some reportedly dying after struggling to meet their basic needs.
Drawing parallels between the allegations against the ADC leadership and the experiences of workers under Aregbesola’s administration, the APC argued that the party could not be trusted to manage the affairs of the country.
The statement further accused Atiku and other ADC leaders of pursuing political power for personal interests rather than the welfare of Nigerians.
It urged workers and the electorate to reject the ADC and its candidates in the forthcoming general elections, insisting that a party aspiring to govern Nigeria must demonstrate accountability and responsibility in managing its internal affairs.
The allegations and criticisms were contained in the APC Presidential Campaign Council’s statement. The statement did not include a response from the ADC leadership or Atiku Abubakar to the claims.
