The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Ilorin, Kwara State has successfully separated conjoined twins.
The set of female twins, who were conjoined at birth were alive after doctors successfully separated them last Thursday
Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UITH, Prof. Abdullah Yussuf, said its we are another breakthrough in the hospital and they are very grateful to God for making this thing possible.
“We are also grateful for those who have contributed so immensely to the success of the operation, especially the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. He supported the procedure by giving us substantial amount of money and that actually propelled us to achieve the feat.”
Yussuf affirmed that the act by some privileged Nigerians to seek medical tourism abroad could be stopped if the nations public hospitals have the necessary medical equipment.
Parents of the babies, Mr. and Mrs. Tawakalitu Ahmed,natives of New Bussa in Niger State pleaded with Nigerians for assistance to be able to take care of the babies and the CMD gave them employment automatic employment
