UI VC race: Aderinto Tops Final Eight Selected by Governing Council as 13th VC Emerges Today

Immediate Past Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Adeyinka Aderinto has topped the list of eight candidates shortlisted by the Governing Council of the University of Ibadan led by Chief John Odigie Oyegun.

Sixteen candidates applied to become the 12th Vice Chancellor of the University out of which Professor Remi Raji withdrew from the race bringing the number down to fifteen.

The screening of the 15 candidates which held at the Council Chambers featured both presentation and questioning by the members of Council who scored each candidates performance.

Credible sources at the Council revealed that the Council Chairman, Odigie Oyegun had first assured all candidates of level playing ground before each of the applicants took their turn to appear before the Council.

The list of final eight which will now appear before the Vice Chancellor Selection Board today indicated that Professor Adeyinka Aderinto led the screening followed by the acting Vice Chancellor Prof A.B Ekanola, Professor H. Fawehinmi, Professor O. Farounbi, Professor B. Salako, the incumbent Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration Professor Kayode Adebowale came sixth while Professor G. Aderounmu and O. Ademowo shared the seventh and 8th positions respectively.

The shortlisted candidates are now to appear before the final Selection Board today (Thursday) while the 12th Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan is expected to be announced later in the day.
