The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, has felicitated with the Muslims, especially University of Ibadan Muslim community on the occasion of the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fast and wished them a peaceful Eid-Fitri, in a release by the University’s Director of Public Communication, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, “It is a wonderful day of joy for all our Muslim brothers and sisters as we celebrate the end of the month-long Ramadan fast. Throughout the month, we demonstrated perseverance, commitment, discipline and sacrifice. This month also enabled us to nurture generosity and substantial spirituality to the less privileged.
Professor Olayinka lamented that the observance of the Holy Month was sadly tainted by a students’ protest which necessitated the suspension of academic activities of the undergraduate students in the institution and urged diligent and law abiding students to be resolute in ensuring law and order, peace, security and progress of the University.
He praised the Muslims in the University for maintaining peace and peaceful co-existence with people of other religious persuasion and cultural background in the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor prayed Allah to bless all Nigerians.
