UI Overall Best Graduating Student Wins full PhD scholarship in US

Basirat Rufai who emerged as the overall best-graduating student of the University of Ibadan with an outstanding 6.90/7.00 grade point has won a full PhD scholarship to a university in the United States.

Rufai bagged her bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria.

She graduated with an outstanding 6.90/7.00 cumulative grade point of first-class honors in 2021

Basira was awarded the best-graduating student of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the overall best-graduating student of the University of Ibadan because of her remarkable performance.

She remained consistent in her excellent academic pursuit as she earned a full Ph.D..D.cholarship to Rutger University, Camden in the United States.

Basira shared her achievement of winning the scholarship to study for her doctorate on her LinkedIn.

She mentioned that she will be studying Computational Center for Computational and Integrative Biology at Rutgers University.

She added that she was awarded the full-ride scholarship in the form of an assistantship and a Presidential fellowship for the program.

”I am excited to share that I will be starting my Ph.D. program at the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology at Rutgers University – Camden,” Basirat wrote.

”I was awarded a full-ride scholarship in the form of an assistantship and a Presidential fellowship for the program,” she added.

Basira expressed her gratitude to her past professors for putting in good recommendation letters for her. She also thanked her family for their guidance and support during her application process.

Basira stated that she is excited about the new phase and also takes pride in herself and her achievements. She added that she is eager to explore the new opportunity.

In a recent interview wih Nigerian Tribune Bashirat said ‘The next things after my graduation are internship, NYSC and also go for my MSc. I see myself being a successful pharmacist paving ways in the area of research. I also see myself being addressed as a Dr already, (laughs). I see myself winning in the area of pharmacy practice I delve into, and also encouraging younger colleagues. Then, I see myself married with children too
