UCH To Construct Medical Centre at NYSC Orientation Camp in Iseyin

The Chief Medical Director,(CMD), of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo on Tuesday, 2nd June 2020 led the management of the hospital to hand over the site for the construction of a Medical Centre at the Oyo State National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp at Iseyin to the contractor.


According to the CMD, the project is one of the four medical centres to be built at NYSC orientation camps in Nigeria,

CMD in a statement signed UCH’ s PRO Toye Akinrinola said ,”we are always ready to render excellent medical services to Nigerians. This centre in Iseyin will serve the corps members, NYSC staff and the immediate community”.

Prof. Otegbayo pointed out though the funds available are meagre, they will be utilized judiciously and that the first phase of the project will be completed in 12 weeks.


He charged both the project consultants and the contractor to do do the job according to specification because the management of the hospital will frown at any shoddy job done on the site.


The Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Ogbugebe thanked the Federal Ministry of Health, the CMD and the management of UCH for taking the effort to build the medical centre.


Mrs. Ogbugebe noted that she will be monitoring the project to ensure that it is built according to specification.
She also said that with the construction, the present clinic at the camp will be used as hostel to accommodate more corps members posted to Oyo State for the mandatory one year national service.

Both the project consultants and the contractor promised to do a good job and also to deliver to time.


Recall that the CMD on Monday, 1st June, 2020 handed over the painting of the hospital’s wards to contractor who will paint UCH wards with mosquito repellent paints.

As at the close of business on Tuesday, 2nd June, 2020, the hospital did not have new or confirmed case of COVID 19.

The University College Hospital, Ibadan has been playing the leading role in combating the spread of the coronavirus, and will continue to render excellent care and services to all our patients. The Hospital equally enjoins everyone to adhere to the required infection prevention and control measures prescribed by the WHO and the NCDC, such as physical distancing, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers & face masks. We will continue to update the public accordingly.
