Today September 20, 2024, the remains Mr Thomas Depo Oyelade popularly known as Tommy Oyelade will be laid to rest in his beloved hometown of Ogbomoso, a community that will forever be changed by his profound contributions. A retired permanent secretary at the Federal Civil Service, Oyelade spent decades dedicated to the service of his nation and the upliftment of his people, leaving behind a legacy that resonates beyond his passing.

Throughout his illustrious career, Oyelade was not just a bureaucrat; he was a bridge-builder who played a pivotal role in securing employment opportunities for countless Ogbomoso indigenes. His unwavering commitment to the civil service was matched only by his dedication to his community, where his efforts positively impacted the lives of many.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Oyelade’s influence extended into various facets of Ogbomoso’s development. He utilized his networks to facilitate projects that transformed the historical city and made financial contributions that advanced social and infrastructural progress. His vision for a better Ogbomoso intertwined with his work ethic, demonstrating that true service extends beyond the walls of government offices.

In a touching tribute, Barrister Olusegun Adeyemi Adekunle, a former permanent secretary who retired from the Secretary General’s Office, spoke of his profound respect for Oyelade’s contributions. “Though he has gone to rest, his demise at this time is painful. He lived a fulfilled and impactful life; he was the one who secured jobs for me and many others. May his soul continue to rest in peace,” Adekunle remarked, echoing the sentiments of countless others who benefited from Oyelade’s kindness and mentorship.
