The Palace of the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, has dismissed allegations circulating on social media claiming the monarch abandoned the political ambition of Osun State Governor, Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, describing the claims as false and the handiwork of mischief makers.
In a press release issued by the palace and signed by the Director of Information and Protocol at Aafin Timi Agbale, Dapo Akinyele, the traditional council said a viral video by a faceless lady alleging double standards by the monarch was a “campaign of calumny” aimed at disrupting the peaceful atmosphere in Ede.
The palace stated that the claim suggesting the monarch had jettisoned support for Governor Adeleke, who also holds the title of Asiwaju of Ede land, was a figment of imagination concocted by disgruntled elements and agents of fake news.
According to the statement, the palace has enjoyed strong support from the Adeleke dynasty since Oba Lawal ascended the throne in 2008, during the era of the late Asiwaju of Ede land, Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke.
It added that the incumbent governor and other members of the Adeleke family, including Dr. Tajudeen Adedeji Adeleke and the Yeyeluwa of Ede land, Modupe Adeleke Sanni, have remained supportive of the Ede Traditional Council.
The palace noted that the relationship between the Adeleke family and the traditional institution in Ede has been cordial and beneficial to the community.
While appreciating sons and daughters of Ede for their continued support to the monarch and the town, the palace also urged politicians across party lines to avoid propaganda capable of heating up the political atmosphere.
It called on stakeholders to embrace unity and work collectively towards the success of Governor Adeleke’s second-term ambition and the continued development of Ede town.
The statement concluded with prayers for peace, progress and prosperity in Ede and the entire Osun State.
