Tragedy struck in Benue State as three youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ogbadibo Local Government Area lost their lives in a fatal road accident while travelling to Lafia, Nasarawa State, for the party’s North Central Zonal Congress.
The deceased have been identified as Hon. Anawo Benjamin from Orokam Ward 3, Hon. Ogbe Enemari of Ai-Oono Ward 3, and Hon. Abraham Enenche from Olachagbaha Ward.
The accident occurred on Wednesday along the Makurdi-Lafia road. According to reports, the victims died on the spot, while other members of the delegation sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Reacting to the incident, the APC’s 2023 senatorial candidate for Benue South, Comrade Daniel Onjeh, described the loss as “sad and heartbreaking,” noting that the deceased were promising young politicians who played significant roles in the early development of the party in the area.
Similarly, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, expressed shock over the incident, particularly the loss of multiple lives from the same local government. He extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and the people of Ogbadibo LGA.
The tragic incident has cast a pall over the APC community in Benue State, with party members mourning the untimely deaths of the young leaders.
