The National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) has declared The Polytechnic, Ibadan as the best State owned Polytechnic in Nigeria,following a pilot ranking by the board.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Dr. Musa’udu Adamu Kazuare, adding that this followed the board pilot ranking of the Polytechnics in the country
The statement reads ‘ The NBTE in its pilot ranking of Polytechnics in the country which covered 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 academic sessions ranked The Polytechnic, Ibadan as the best State owned Polytechnic in the country’
The statement explained that the ranking was based on several criteria consisting of total number of programmes with full accreditation, percentage of programme with full accreditation, ability of institution to introduce programmes in new and emerging fields.
He said others include; capacity building of staff both within and outside Nigeria, teaching quality including staff student/ ratio, incorporation of Entrepreneurship Education into the institutions curriculum, fully established Entrepreneurship Development Centers (EDC) among other criteria
The Scribe noted that general ranking of all Polytechnics in the country irrespective of ownership placed The Polytechnic, Ibadan at the fourth position with the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State and Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna State emerging first, second and third respectively among the 112 ranked Polytechnic in the country
The management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan however promised to continue to strive for the highest standard
