The Board of Southwest Agriculture Company Limited (SWAgCo), the agribusiness investment vehicle of Odu’a Investment Company Limited (OICL) has approved the appointment of Dr. Theophilus Adewale Onadeko as its new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer effective July 1, 2024.
Dr. Onadeko, an experienced finance & agribusiness executive, chartered banker and trained agricultural & development economist with over 25 years of experience across corporate strategy, impact investing, SME banking, agribusiness value chain finance, financial technology and management consulting is bringing his experience to bear at SWAgCo positioned to be the preferred food and agribusiness value chain investor in South-West Nigeria and beyond.
The new Managing Director has worked at global, regional and local institutions such as: International Finance Corporation (IFC); the private sector arm of the World Bank Group; Financial Sector Deepening Africa (FSDA); German Development Cooperation (GIZ); Halifax Bank of Scotland UK; AXA Financial Services UK; United Bank for Africa (UBA); Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk-Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) ‘s Corporation; Asset & Resource Management (ARM) Group; World Bank co-funded Agricultural Development Project in Northern Nigeria; Zino Agritech; and Deewal Group.
Dr Onadeko received his doctorate in Agricultural Economics and Environmental Policy from the World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development & Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB). He holds an MBA in Finance from Manchester Business School UK; a Masters degree in Development Economics & Policy from the University of Manchester UK and a Bachelor degree in Agricultural Economics & Farm Management from FUNAAB. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and a Certified Associate in Project Management from George Washington University School of Business, USA.
