The Alakufo – designate, Alhaji (Chief) Lamidi Taoreed Ayankojo Adefisoye, has warned Alhaji Olajide Abideen Abimbola (a.k.a Eji Ogbe) to stop parading himself as the Alakufo of Akufo in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Chief Ayankojo Adefisoye, who gave this warning while speaking with newsmen over the weekend, urged Alhaji Abideen Abimbola to wait the outcome of the case he (Eji Ogbe) instituted still pending before Oyo State High Court 6, sitting in Ibadan.

Chief Adefisoye and Eji-Ogbe, a chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Oyo State, have been friends for many years until the struggle for the Alakufo stool began.

The Alakufo – designate maintained that he was duly appointed as Alakufo in October, 2023, via a letter captioned: “RE: Filling of Vacant Stool of Baale Akufo”, with reference no.: CB.141/152/40/92A, from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

The latter, copies of which were made available to news men, reads: “I wish to refer to the above subject and inform you with pleasure that His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has graciously approved your appointment as the new Baale of Akufo, in Ido Local Government Area with effect from 20th October, 2023”.

The Alakufo – designate, therefore, insisted that the stool of Alakufo was not vacant as at November, 2023, when Alhaji Abimbola “manipulated his way to the palace of the late Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, to be installed as Alakufo”.

“There is a due process to appoint a part two Oba in Oyo State. It is the State government that appoints part two Obas. I am the one recognised by the Oyo State government. I am the one with document from the state government”, he explained.

Chief Adefisoye wondered why Alhaji Abimbola has continued to parade himself as the Alakufo despite the fact that the case he instituted on the matter is still pending before a court of competent jurisprudence.
