The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, has called on Ogbomoso indigenes residing in Plateau State to unite, cooperate with the government, and champion peace and national unity.
The monarch made this appeal during a grand reception organized in his honor by the Ogbomoso community in Plateau State. He urged the people to sustain their exemplary work ethic, uphold the integrity of their heritage, and actively support his developmental vision for Ogbomosoland.
In his address, Oba Olaoye highlighted the need for patriotism and collective efforts in nation-building. “To achieve a great country, Nigerians must commit to patriotism and rededication to the ideals of nation-building,” he said.
Reflecting on his journey to the throne, Oba Olaoye revealed that his decision to leave the United States was divinely inspired. “I did not know I would become a king until God revealed it to me. That is why I returned home—to work for the progress and transformation of Ogbomosoland,” he stated.
The monarch emphasized his commitment to repositioning Ogbomoso as a center of peace and development. “We cannot solely rely on the government. Much of the effort must come from us. This is a new dawn for Ogbomosoland, and I urge you all to unite and roll up your sleeves to build our town together,” he added.
The Asiwaju Yoruba of Plateau State, Chief Olajide Olagbemiro, welcomed the traditional ruler and reaffirmed the Yoruba community’s commitment to peaceful coexistence with their host communities. “The Yorubas are peaceful people who respect constituted authorities, and we will continue to maintain harmony with our hosts,” he said.
As part of his visit, Oba Olaoye also paid a courtesy call on the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Royal Highness Da Jacob Gyang Buba, where he underscored the importance of unity and collaboration among ethnic groups for the progress of the nation.
