Stakeholders have urged Kingmakers and the family producing the next Soun of Ogbomoso to present a worthy successor that will not derail from the pedestal which the late monarch, Oba jimoh Oyewumi, Soun Ajagungbade 111, has placed the city.
Although, National Insight reliably gathered that the family has agreed on what heirs to the throne interested in the stool must possess before throwing a hat into the ring.
Part of the requirements included age, not above 55 years of age, having not less than first degree, no any criminal record and he must be a person of worthy character and responsible family man.
Also, the aspirant will obtain an expression of interest form for N250,000 after which they wil be screened.
Although it was gathered that some family members did not agree with the position of the entire family on the requirements but the majority of those who agreed said the development will prune down the numbers and bring sanity into the race.
In a voice Populi conducted by our reporter, Ogbomoso indigenes at home and abroad insisted that the traditional process of selecting a king must be followed and a reputable person must emerge as a king.
Adegbile Adeomi, an Ogbomoso-born businessman and socialite opined that “Our next king must be brave, fearless, smart, bold and must be someone who will command respect from people. We can not overlook the monetary aspect. Our King must be a rich man in order not to be a burden to his subjects”
Adesanya Omotayo, a Lagos-based indigene said “The late monarch placed Ogbomoso on a very high pedestal before he joined his ancestors and I think his successor should be able to do more for the town. We have high hope that the next Soun will be greater.
Ibrahim Moshood maintained that the next Soun must have a wealth of experience and must be financially stable. The love of his town must be paramount in his mind.
It is expected that the ruling family will come up with a name very soon and the kingmakers will take the necessary steps to give Ogbomoso a new king.
