The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, has commended the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), Oyo State Chapter, for their commitment to the Ogbomoso Green Infrastructure Project, an initiative aimed at developing parks and gardens to enhance the city’s landscape.
Speaking during the institute’s visit to his palace, Oba Olaoye praised the team’s diligence, expertise, and well-researched plans, describing their vision for a greener and more sustainable Ogbomoso as inspiring.
“The greatness of any city is built on the collective efforts of its people. I want to assure the Institute of Town Planners and all sons and daughters of Ogbomoso that this vision will not remain on paper—it will come to life. Where there is vision, provision follows,” the monarch stated.
He emphasized that the Green Infrastructure Project is not just about aesthetics but also about fostering a healthier and more livable environment for future generations. According to him, the initiative aligns with the broader goal of transforming Ogbomoso into a model city that blends heritage with sustainable development.
Oba Olaoye called on indigenes of Ogbomoso, both at home and in the diaspora, to support the project, stressing that collective effort is essential to its success. He expressed confidence that the initiative would position Ogbomoso as a city of progress and innovation.
The visit by the NITP, Oyo State Chapter, highlights growing interest in urban renewal and sustainable city planning in Ogbomoso, with hopes that the project will serve as a model for similar initiatives across the state.
