The Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, on Tuesday flagged off the state government’s Free Antenatal care and Delivery services at Nnobi General Hospital in Nnobi, Idemili South LGA, Anambra State as part of his palliative to ease the hardship in the state and Nigeria at large.
While addressing about 250 pregnant mothers, health workers and others, Governor Soludo states that free Antenatal care and delivery services is part of his palliative measures to cushion the effect of the recent subsidy removal by the federal government but will continue to sustain it for Ndi Anambra.
He promised that as long as he remained the governor of the state, and based on APGA slogan which said “Onye Ayana Nwanne Ya”(Be Your Brother’s Keeper) his government will continue to provide free medical services to all pregnant mothers in the state.
He commend them to ensure it is not abused and added that the state government will put up every necessary measure to ensure the health officers complied fully.
He noted how remarkable it is that the TC Chairman of Idemili South LGA, Mrs Obi Amaka Iyom being the only lady amongst the 21 TC Chairmen across the state is as well the first to launch the State Government Free Antenatal Care and Delivery Services in her council. He commend her for being the pacesetter!
The TC Chairman of Idemili South Local Government, Mrs Amaka Obi appreciated the governor for Nnobi-Ekwulobia Road which is now wearing new looks, the improvement of security in Idemili South compared to what it used to be, health workers employment and many other laudable projects the governor has done for Idemili South people and Ndi Anambra at large.
She jokingly appealed that as Oliver Twist, she will continue asking for more. She assured Mr Governor that Idemili South Local Government Area is 100% APGA and will always speak with a loud voice/votes in appreciation of his commitment to the good people of the council during election.
The commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike disclosed that Mr Governor deserves accolades for presently training more than 500 health workers. He said they would be posted to hospitals and health centers across the state soon.
Dr Obidike added that Mr Governor, Prof Soludo is intentional regarding his resolve to end era of hospital without doctors in Anambra and it already reflecting in lives of Ndi Anambra.
Former Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha, Commissioner for Entertainment and Culture, Mr Don Onyenji, Commissioner for Works, Engr Ifeanyi Okoma, Special Adviser to Governor on Youth Empowerment, Dr Nelson Omenugha, traditional rulers, PGs and others graced the occasion.
