When Tinubu was given APC ticket, some quarters in APC started haywire jubilation simply because they felt Tinubu Tsunami would sweep all the South West Region for APC, but the Osun experiment has fizzled away such a hope, even Tinubu’s run to Abuja couldn’t save the day. It simply reinforced the known fact that Yorubas are sophisticated and not credulous.
Among several elections that would be conducted in 2023, one that caught my attention most is the Oyo State Guber Election. With all practical indications, the election looks like a free ride for Makinde because none of the opposition party is competing with the ruling party, rather, they are competing among themselves. They are already battling for who to come 2nd, 3rd and the rest.
Unlike any other Candidate in Yoruba land, the journey to 2023 becomes easier for Seyi Makinde because he gets the Governance and Politics right. He has engaged the best hands in Governance and credible candidates for elections.
Education takes a central stage in Makinde led administration. Free education was introduced again with free education materials to revive the genuine Yoruba spirit as laid by Pa Awolowo. Out of school children reduced significantly in the State. State owned higher institutions became priority, he is no doubt the God sent Savior of LAUTECH as Ogbomoso people will continue to adore him.
Economic activities have a facelift as Oyo State becomes an important destination for both local and foreign investments. No wonder the State Internal Revenue Generation skyrocketed unprecedentedly.
Makinde has left no sector untouched. Infrastructure development has experienced a major boost under this administration. The once forgotten Oke-Ogun Region is now a central of attraction to people. The road infrastructure and the education facilities are topnotch. Saki and Iseyin people will never forget the good gesture of the son of Makinde.
Makinde gives special attention to security of lives and properties. He was at the central stage of creation of Amotekun to defend Yoruba land. It was a United front in 2020 at Ibadan, the Capital of Yoruba Land. Even at the heat of EndSars pandemonium, Makinde was the only Governor that went to the street to calm the angry youths with huge applause.
His sane decision during Coronavirus Pandemic made Oyo State the central of attraction. He managed the Corona period without inflicting unnecessary hardship on the citizens of Oyo State. The State became a point of reference to other states across Nigeria and beyond.
The civil servants are receiving their entitlement at the right time. Our aged parents who are pensioners are been treated with utmost dignity as they receive their pensions timely. Primary health education receives a great boost in the State as people have free access to these facilities.
Apart from different merits in governance gotten by GSM, his political dexterity has placed him on the path of invincibility. His political decisions are always apt with total focus on having capable hands for the betterment of lives and properties of Oyo State people.
A cursory look at various candidates put forward for next election in PDP depicts the above fact. Joseph Tegbe is harvesting hugely from opposition parties with large number of decampees on weekly basis. Bisi Ilaka is another cherished and experienced politician with firm grip of Oyo Central while Wolekanle with his youthful and philanthropist activities has become a beautiful bride for the people of Oyo North.
Seyi Makinde has assembled a formidable team as he continuously becomes the love of the street. It is obvious that Makinde is so dear to good people of Oyo State as young and old can’t wait to honour him and his team with their votes. Makinde is a success politically and adminstratively, his second term is going to be a compensation for the good work of the past 3 years. Oyo State people will never substitute Makinde for anyone.
