Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial district at the upper chamber of the National Assembly on Sunday hosted dignitaries from all walk of life for the 5th edition of Senator Buhari Abdulfatai Ramadan Lecture.
The lecture which was held in Ogunlola Hall, Oja Igbo, Ogbomoso have in attendance, The executive governor of Oyo State Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial district Sen Rildwan Adesoji Akanbi, Senator Monsurat Sumonu, Minister of National Planning Professor Sulaiman Abubakar, Deputy Speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly, Hon Abdulwasil Musa, former chairman Oodua group , Barrister Sarafadeen Alli , former House leader of the PDP, Hon Mulikat Akande Adeola.
Others include, Chairman Oyo State Muslim community, Alhaji Kunle Sanni, former chief of staff to Oyo state Governor, Dr Saka Balogun, serving commissioners, Local government chairmen from various council in the state, top government officials , notable politicians, traditional rulers as well as Islamic scholars and preachers.
In his address, Senator Buhari who is also the chairman Senate Committee on ICT and cybercrime said the lecture is organized to appreciate God and further enlighten Muslims about the teachings and way of living as enshrined in holy Quran.
He maintained that the society can only be better if both the youths and aged exhibited good virtues and lived a modest live that is worthy of emulation by the younger generations
The Senator also task parents to teach their wards in the way of God and show great concern for their moral and spiritual growth While assuring the gathering of his commitment to the growth of the state, the Ogbomoso born Politian also promised not to relent in his service to humanity and contribution to the growth of his constituency and state at large.
Speaking on the theme of the lecture “Impacting virtue on the youths; The way forward by the Ulamas, the guest lecturer, Dr Sobour Ghali Alaya said the parent have a lot of works to do in shaping the future of their children.
“ The work start before pregnancy , during pregnancy till the child grows up to become a responsible member of the society, the parent need not only to pray but also to ensure moral and spiritual guidance of their wards. Also the special guest of Honour Dr Kunle Sanni in his welcome address called on the federal lawmakers representing Oyo state to ensure completion of Ogbomoso-Oyo road before they leave office in 2019.
Former Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Dr Saka Balogun in his address also called on the lawmakers and the state government to find a lasting solution to the problem of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso “LAUTECH is our legacy , we cannot afford to lose it or watch it declining in status, we want you to please do something urgently, it is important “. He concluded.
Senator Abiola Ajimobi who was represented by the Deputy Speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly,Hon Abdulwasil, Musa in his speech said the government is making effort to find a lasting solution to the problem of LAUTECH.
