Saki Residents Protests Against “Crazy” Electricity Bill

Residents of Saki  in Oyo state on Tuesday stage a peaceful protest against  exorbitant bill by  electricity distribution company IBEDC

The protest followed a resolution of meeting on the crazy bill organized by  Asabari Consultative Council under the chairmanship of Gem A,K Togun (rtd) held at  Saki Parapo town hall, Saki

The meeting  is part of activities embarked upon by the Council towards eradicating age long cheating, exploitation and manipulations that Saki has been facing in the hands of electricity service providers.

it was unanimously decided and agreed  that the Asabari Consultative Council should proceed without delay the commencement of the plan to discuss with the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC)  on the need to improve electricity supply in the community

The efforts of the Council were  lauded by many in attendance as to the noticeable evidence of improvements in power supply after mounting pressures on the IBEDC.

 

The town hall meeting was used as an avenue by the Council to enlighten the teeming populace that attended the meeting on the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission’s Electricity Customers’ Rights and Obligations.

 

This enlightenment made many in attendance to know their rights as electricity consumers and with a vow to henceforth enforce their rights which had hitherto been trampled by the Disco serving them.

 

 

The National Executive of Saki Parapo led by Dn. Olujimi and Alhaji Okoko and  other eminent dignitaries like the Rector, Mr. M.O. Oladeji and Bursar of the Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, led the members of the academia at the event.

 

 

Artisans, community leaders, Chairmen of Landlords’ association, youth groups, Saki Youth Forum, student leaders and many others were not left out of the meeting that lasted three hours.

 

 

Afterwards, the meeting dissolved into a massive protest against the IBEDC with many joining the protests with placards of various inscriptions stating the experiences of dismay and manipulations by the IBEDC.
