Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Rofiat Lawal, has once again proven her dominance in weightlifting by clinching three gold medals in the 59kg category at the ongoing National Sports Festival.

Lawal secured gold in the snatch with an impressive lift of 95kg, followed by another gold in the clean and jerk, and a third for her overall total—an outstanding achievement that reinforces her status as a top contender in the sport.

Team Oyo’s medal haul continued in darts, where the female doubles team secured gold, bringing the state’s tally to five gold medals, one silver, and one bronze.

In team sports, Oyo’s hockey squad recorded a commanding 5-0 victory over Katsina State in their opening fixture. The state’s badminton team also cruised into the quarterfinals with a 3-0 win against Team Jos.
