Students and residents of communities around Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, have called on security agencies and the government to come to their aid following continuous attacks by armed robbers terrorizing the area.

Some victims of the recent attacks at a community in Aroje narrated their ordeal to journalists, lamenting the absence of quick intervention from the security agencies.

One of the victims recounted, “They were about 20 that came to our area last Tuesday Those who entered my apartment were not speaking Yoruba; they carried knife and guns.”

“They search everywhere and cart away some cash and valuables, thank God i was not injured but the trauma will continue to linger even for my children who witness the scene

Another victim described how the assailants operated without resistance. “They came to our area around 2 a.m. and left by 3 a.m. There was no help from anywhere until they were gone,” he said.

Reports indicate that similar attacks have occurred in the past, with suspicions that herdsmen have been raiding student hostels, robbing them of valuables, and inflicting injuries on some victims.

The school management in a statement recently said “There have been cases of armed robbery in some parts of the students area but that is been frontally addressed as the University authority is collaborating with security agencies and local government authorities to ensure regular patrol of the area.

Residents are now appealing for urgent intervention to prevent further attacks and restore safety to the community.
