In this episode, we spotlight a motion urging the Governing Council of the Nigeria Police Academy to facilitate the establishment of additional campuses across the six geo-political zones of the country.
The motion, sponsored by Rep. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul (APC, Lagos) and adopted by the House, emphasised the need to decentralise police training institutions to improve accessibility, promote regional inclusion, and enhance the overall efficiency and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Nigeria Police Academy has one main campus located in Wudil, Kano State. It was established in 1988 at two temporary campuses before relocating to its permanent site in Wudil
Members noted that the Academy’s current structure, limited to a single campus, places undue strain on prospective cadets and hampers efforts to modernise police training nationwide.
By calling for the establishment of additional campuses, the House reaffirms its commitment to security sector reform and equitable national development. This resolution further exemplifies the 10th Assembly’s dedication to building strong institutions that serve all Nigerians.
