The South West leadership of the People’s Redemption Party has declared its readiness for the 2027 general elections, describing the party as a movement committed to genuine transformation and responsible governance in Nigeria.
The declaration was made during the South West Regional Conference of the party held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, with party executives from South West states, stakeholders, aspirants, and members in attendance.
Speaking at the conference, the National Vice Chairman (South West) of the party, Comrade Olajide Wolimoh, said the gathering marked a defining moment in the effort to reposition the PRP as a credible and dependable alternative for good governance, particularly in the South West region.
According to him, the PRP remains deeply rooted in the principles of social justice, equality, accountability, and people-centered governance, stressing that leadership must prioritize the welfare of citizens above personal interests.
“The PRP stands firmly as that alternative. Our party’s vision and mission are deeply rooted in social justice, equality, human development, accountability, and people-centered governance,” he said.
Olajide added that the party believes government resources should be used to improve education, healthcare, agriculture, industrialization, youth empowerment, women inclusion, and infrastructural development for the benefit of all citizens.
He lamented the economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, poor infrastructure, and declining public trust currently facing the South West, noting that the failures of dominant political parties have created a strong need for a credible alternative.
“The time has come for the people of the South West to embrace a formidable and credible alternative that truly represents the hopes and aspirations of the masses,” he stated.
The PRP chieftain urged residents of the region to see the party not as just another political platform, but as a movement focused on responsible leadership, practical solutions, and genuine transformation.
Addressing party aspirants, Olajide charged them to demonstrate discipline, humility, political maturity, and commitment to issue-based politics.
“Our politics must be issue-based, people-focused, and development-driven. We must show Nigerians that PRP aspirants are prepared to lead with integrity, vision, competence, and compassion,” he added.
Speaking ahead of the 2027 general elections, he called on members, stakeholders, youths, women, artisans, professionals, students, and community leaders to support and strengthen the party’s structures across the South West.
He also appealed to the media for fair and professional coverage of the party’s activities, describing the press as a critical pillar in sustaining democracy and nation-building.
