Priceless Jewels International Foundation Celebrates International Menstrual Hygiene Day in Abeokuta

Priceless Jewels International Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to girl child advocacy and youth empowerment, marked International Menstrual Hygiene Day with a sensitization campaign at Gateway junior secondary School Quarry, Abeokuta.

The campaign, which aimed to promote menstrual hygiene and awareness among young girls, was attended by students from Gateway junior secondary School and students of Peace Foundation International School. The students were educated on various aspects of menstrual hygiene, including how to calculate their menstrual cycle, foods to eat and avoid during menstruation, and how to maintain personal hygiene during their periods.

The founder of Priceless Jewels International Foundation, *Awojobi Rosemary Modupe* , led the campaign, emphasizing the importance of menstrual hygiene and awareness in promoting the health and well-being of young girls. “Menstrual hygiene is a critical aspect of girl child health, and it’s essential that we educate our young girls on how to manage their periods effectively,” she said.

The foundation also distributed sanitary pads to all students in attendance, providing them with a vital resource to maintain their menstrual hygiene.

The principal of Gateway junior secondary School, Deaconess Akodu, expressed her delight and appreciation for the impactful lecture and donations. “I’m so delighted to see our girls being empowered with knowledge and resources to manage their menstrual health effectively,” she said. Q”We look forward to receiving the Priceless Jewels International Foundation team again in the future.”

The campaign was a huge success, with students and teachers alike expressing gratitude to the foundation for their efforts. “This campaign has been enlightening, and I’m grateful for the knowledge I’ve gained,” said a student of Gateway junior secondary School.

Priceless Jewels International Foundation’s initiative is a significant step towards promoting menstrual hygiene and awareness in Ogun State. The foundation’s efforts are expected to have a lasting impact on the lives of young girls in the state, empowering them with the knowledge and resources they need to manage their menstrual health effectively.
