The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has promised to upgrade the facilities at Transmission Company of Nigeria with modern technologies to enhance power transmission reliability.

Adelabu spoke at the weekend during an inspection tour of facilities at the National Control Centre in Osogbo and the Osogbo sub-regional office of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

He emphasized the need to expand electricity transmission capacity and establish the true capacity of the national grid through simulation exercises.

Adelabu also disclosed that an investigation has commenced regarding the recent fire outbreak at a TCN substation facility in Kebbi State, which caused a nationwide blackout.

Furthermore, he condemned unauthorized shutdowns of the national grid during electricity workers’ industrial actions, considering them economic sabotage and a threat to national security.
