Oyo State House of Assembly has urged officers of Nigerian Police Force and sisters agencies to return to their duty post to avoid further breach of law and order in the society
They noted that the hoodlums who are looting and causing mayhem in Ibadan and other parts of the state are taking advantage of absence of officers on the road
This follow the matter of urgent public Importance raised by Hon K O Obadara , lawmaker representing Ibadan North West during the plenary on Tuesday
Obadara in his paper entitled “ Urgent Need to Address the Aftermath of EndSARS protest in the state and Install peace in some neighbourhood around Idi Ikan, Agbede Adodo, in Ibadan West Local government said the criminal minded people hide under the guise of #EndSARS protest to loot, shops thereby vandalizing private and public properties. Some policemen were killed and police station were also burnt
He said further that the issue is yet to laid to rest as these hoodlums have not stopped terrorizing the state especially Ibadan, It is sad to note that on Monday 9TH November at Idi Ikan, Iyana Ayeye, Agbede Adodo, hoodlums took over the streets and bullets were exchanged, lives were lost, many shops were looted and people slept with their two eyes opened
“ It was not the first time that Idi Ikan, Agbede Adodo would be witnessing gang violence which could be traced to consumption of hard drugs by youths of the neighbourhood, This drug addicts and other notorious criminals make area uncomfortable for the residents”
Some of the lawmakers who contributed said the incident is not peculiar to Ayeye,Idi Ikan alone but other part of the state including , Gbagi Sawmill area, Iseyin and others and calls for proper fortification by beefing up state’s security machineries.
The Assembly Minority Leader, Hon Asimiyu Alarape in his contributions said commended the governor for his efforts so far and urge him to do more by providing more vehicles for operation burst operatives and make them effectives in all the local governments and flash points across the state
The house however urged the executive arm of government to not to relent in its effort to ensure safety of lives and properties in the state .
Recalled that Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde has during his visit to Eleyele Police command vowed to ensure that families of police officers killed during the #ENDSARS protest get due compensation as well as grant other requests made by the state police command.
The governor also promised to examine and grant the requests before him by the police command.
