Nollywood actress, Peju Ogunmola, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her only son, Oluwasinayomi, Ayomikun who passed away on Monday.
Ogunmola, daughter of the late veteran dramatist, Kola Ogunmola, and second wife of renowned comic actor, playwright, and filmmaker, Sunday Omobolanle (popularly known as Papiluwe), recently celebrated her son in June after he successfully completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
The news of his death has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with colleagues, friends, and fans expressing grief and extending condolences to the actress.
Among those who publicly condoled with her was Barrister Wale Ojo-Lanre, Director-General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development. In his tribute, he described the loss as “immeasurable” and recalled fond memories of living under the same roof with Peju and members of the Ogunmola family at Funmbi Fagun Estate, Ondo.
He wrote:
“Peju’s care, affection, and motherly presence made the house feel like a true home. That same heart of love makes us understand the pain and gloom she now carries. Losing a child is a grief beyond words, a wound that pierces the soul. Yet, even in this valley of sorrow, we pray that the Almighty will grant her the strength to endure.”
Ojo-Lanre also prayed for divine comfort for the actress, urging her to find solace in the promises of God as contained in Psalm 34:18, which says: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
The Nollywood community is yet to officially release further details about the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
