A 19-year-old student in the Department of Public Administration of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Adebanji Abiodun Fisayo, has been remanded at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Owo, for alleged rape and armed robbery.
Fisayo, who was arraigned on a four-count charge of attempted rape and armed robbery.
He was said to have committed the offence on September 28, 2022, at a Hotel, along Isuada Express Road, Owo local government area.
Fisayo allegedly abducted one Salaja Florence and took her to a hotel but the victim’s monthly menstrual flow allegedly prevented him from having carnal knowledge of her.
Meanwhile, Police Prosecutor, Inspector Edu Owolabi, informed the court that the suspect robbed the victim of the sum of N30,000.00, a Tecno Smart 7 phone at gunpoint, and later demanded the sum of N100,000.
The plea of the suspect was not taken when the charges were read to him.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. W.O. Dosumu, adjourned the case to October 10, for hearing.
