In a series of intelligence-driven operations, the Nigeria Police Force has successfully thwarted multiple bandit attacks, neutralized threats, and intensified its fight against human trafficking across the country.

The coordinated efforts, which align with the Force’s renewed commitment to proactive crime-fighting strategies, resulted in significant breakthroughs in Kogi, Katsina, and Ondo states.

On January 18, operatives of the Kogi State Police Command disrupted a planned attack by armed bandits holding a strategic meeting in a forest in Budon.

Acting on credible intelligence, the officers engaged the bandits in a fierce gunfight, overpowering the criminals. One bandit was neutralized, four others were arrested, and an arsenal of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, 30 rounds of live ammunition, and two motorcycles, was recovered.

The same day, the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters in Katsina State responded to a distress call about an impending bandit attack on Ruwan Doruwa Village. In collaboration with other security agencies, operatives intercepted the armed gang and engaged them in a shootout. Seven bandits were neutralized, while others fled, abandoning 109 rustled livestock.

In a parallel operation, the Police intensified efforts against human trafficking and illegal baby factories, rescuing 207 abducted children nationwide. A notable breakthrough occurred in Ondo State, where operatives apprehended a syndicate involved in child trafficking. Acting on intelligence about a missing child in Akure, the suspects—identified as Abosede Olanipekun, Lukman Isiaka, and Sabira Izuorah—were arrested, and 14 children aged between one week and seven years were rescued.

The Force described these achievements as a significant boost to public safety and a major setback for criminal networks across the country.

In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi reaffirmed the Police’s dedication to safeguarding lives and property. “The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to combating crime and ensuring justice. These successes reflect our unwavering resolve to protect our society from those who threaten its peace and security,” he said.

The Police called on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information to help curb criminal activities.
