The Oyo State Police Command has revealed details of the abduction of Mrs. Adegoke Olaide Busayo, sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her 11-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, leading to their successful rescue after a coordinated intelligence-led operation.

Addressing journalists in Ibadan on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the operation led to the rescue of the victims unharmed, the neutralisation of two kidnappers, the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, an operational vehicle and other incriminating exhibits.

According to the police, Mrs. Busayo, 42, and her twin sons were abducted on June 3, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m. along Elewura Street, off Ring Road, Ibadan, while she was taking the children to school. The abductors reportedly operated in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla.

The police said that following a distress report, the Commissioner of Police ordered an immediate intelligence-driven manhunt in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police. Operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), working with the Oyo State Police Command and other tactical units, commenced a comprehensive rescue operation.

Investigations led to the arrest of one Wale Abolalewa, popularly known as “Oloro,” who was already on the police watchlist for related criminal activities. Further intelligence gathering and interrogation also resulted in the arrest of Dare Oyedele, alias “Solution,” identified as a key member of the kidnapping syndicate.

The command disclosed that the gang had attempted to recruit an insider within the victim’s household through a staff member identified as Segun in May 2026. The suspects reportedly conducted extensive surveillance on the family, monitoring their movements, daily routines, vehicles and the schools attended by the children before carrying out the abduction.

DSP Olayinka said analysis of the suspects’ digital footprints uncovered photographs of the victim’s vehicles, school environment and other personal details used to profile and track the family.

Armed with the intelligence gathered, operatives traced the gang’s hideout to Lado Community in the Ayegun area of Ibadan.
On June 6 at about 7:30 p.m., security operatives stormed the hideout in a tactical operation aimed at rescuing the victims. During the raid, a gang member identified as Kelechi, who had reportedly travelled from Lagos State to serve as a lookout, opened fire on the operatives.

The police responded, leading to a gun duel in which Kelechi and another unidentified gang member were neutralised.

The victims were subsequently rescued unhurt and reunited with their family.
The command also announced the arrest of two additional suspects, Semiu Ishola, 39, and Adeyemi Ayobami, 35, who allegedly facilitated the use of the hideout by the kidnappers.

Items recovered from the suspects included three pump-action guns, 14 live cartridges, the ash-coloured Toyota Corolla used in the abduction, charms, a battle axe, a hammer, substances suspected to be hard drugs and two face masks.

DSP Olayinka said efforts were ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate who escaped during the operation, some of whom were believed to have sustained gunshot injuries.

The police appealed to medical practitioners, private hospitals, traditional bone setters and members of the public to report anyone seeking treatment for suspicious gunshot wounds, assuring that all information would be treated confidentially.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and vowed that all criminal elements operating within Oyo State would be pursued and brought to justice.
