Police Confirm Release of  Kidnapped Gov Makinde’s Ally, Benedict Akika, Says Manhunt for Abductors Ongoing

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the release of Chief Benedict Akika, a prominent political figure in the region, who was abducted from his Idi-Ape residence on September 4, 2024. Akika was freed after a comprehensive search operation that spanned multiple states, including Ogun, Ondo, and Edo.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer,  SP Adewale Osifeso,  Akika regained his freedom late Wednesday evening, September 11, 2024, and is currently receiving medical attention before reuniting with his family.

Osifeso emphasized the ongoing efforts to apprehend the criminal network responsible for the kidnap, urging residents to provide timely and credible information to assist in the investigation.

He reassured the public of the police’s commitment to maintaining safety and security in Oyo State.
