Children of the Late Chief Justice Moses Omofoye Oyetunde at the Valedictory Court Session

The late Justice Moses Omofoye Oyetunde has been described as a strict and fair minded judge who paid particular attention to appearance of lawyers and ensured they imbibed in the ethics of the noble profession.

 

In a special Valedictory Court Session organized in his honoured by the Plateau State Government, he was described as a judge who has built a good reputation that gained admiration of the bench and bar as an astute, pragrative and incorruptible jugde who undertook several official assignment including special tribunal before retiring from the bench in 2001.

The event had in attendance the Representatives of the Plateau State Government, Bar. Caleb Muftwan, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon. Philemon Dafi, Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Jos branch, Bar Izang Aware, and the state Chief Judge, Hon. Justice David G. Mann.

Hon.Justice Omofoye Oyetunde was eulogized for playing an active role in legal and social circle in Jos as the first secretary and founding member of Rotary Club of Jos , and avid golfer in several gulf clubs in Jos , Ibadan and Ogbomoso.

The late Hon Justice Moses Omofoye Oyetunde was born, a Prince from a Royal Family of Laoye, Ile – Aremo in Ogbomoso Oyo State in 8th August 1936, he attended Native Authority (NA) School Masifa, Ogbomoso, and obtained his legal training at Holborn College, London (LL.B hons in 1966 and was enrolled with Honourable Society of London’s Inn. He establed q legal service firm Oyetunde & Oyetunde & Co will his wife, Late Hon. R. G. Oyetunde was later became an acting Chief Justice in Oyo State.

He is remarks a primary school classmate of the late Judge , 85years old Deacon S. O. Fehintola described him as a brilliant and faithful christian.

Dr. Oyebode Oyetunde, an Executive Director of Africa Development Bank who lead the Children of the late Justice to the event, appreciate Plateau state judiciary for honoring his late father, he said he is not only honoured but has been inspired by the good memories of his father expressed by various speakers at the event.

The event was also had in attendance Mr. Benjamin Onigbinde CEO of SIGVENT GROUP, and Convener of Ogbomoso Economic and Investment Summit who said, ” I am proud of the honour bestowed on one of the best professionals from Ogbomosoland, who has brought royalty standard to the legal system in the country “
