Oyo and Ekiti State have expresses their readiness to partner with Nigeria Railway Corporation to boost tourism development in their respective states
Amb Wale Ojo Lanre Senior Special Assistant to Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State , Hon Akeem Ademola Ige disclosed this while speaking with the Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation((NRC), Mr Freeborn Okhiria at the new railway station in Moniya Ibadan on Friday
The duo are of the view that the commencement of rail services will boost enhance tourism development with increasing flow of traffic of tourist into the host state and other part of the South West.
Ojo Lanre said, Governor Fayemi’s tourism vision is all encompassing and will not leave any Stone unturned in making Ekiti state a preferred choice of tourism destination for tourists from any part of the world and they will need to come down to the state so we are ready to partner with organizations that will make movement into the stat easy.
He however appeal to the federal government and management of Nigeria railway Corporation to consider extending rail service to Ekiti and other states in region so that the tourism potentials can be properly annexed through flow of traffic
Also Special Adviser to Governor Makinde on Tourism Hon Akeem Ige while speaking said, Oyo state is happy to have the station and will do everything to make use of the opportunity for economic development through tourism
My visit here is just to asses the situation on ground and see how we can collaborate for economic development. We want to encourage more tourists coming to explore the state to start their adventure right inside the train.
The Manager Director Nigeria Railway Corporation, Mr Freeborn Okhiria while responding said part of the vision of the FG is to ease movement, tourism is about movement from one place to the other, we are also open to collaborations that will enhance patronage and development
