Oyo state government on Thursday unveils its plan to celebrate the annual world tourism day
World Tourism day, a celebration which is set aside by the United Nation World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is to create necessary awareness for tourism development across the globe .
This year the theme is “ Tourism and Job : A better future for all”
Briefing newsmen in Ibadan the Board Chairman Surveryor Debo Adejumobi said a public lecture will be delivered by Professor Gbolagade Lameed od Department of Tourism and Wild Life University of Ibadan
Adejumobi who was flanked by his Vice chairman, Alhaji Abass Oloko and the state commissioner for information ,culture and tourism , Hon Wasiu Olatubosun said further that there will be cultural display documentary on tourism sites and recognition of distinguished hotelier in Oyo state Chief Adoro Jerome
The event will be declared open by the state commissioner for information, culture and tourism, Hon Wasiu Olatubosun
Hon Olatunbosun while speaking on government plans for tourism in the state said the state government is ready to provide conducive environment for the investors to come and invest in the sector.
The commissioner said further that Engineer Seyi Makinde’s government is ready to reposition tourism, Arts and Culture and use it as a tool to develop economy and create Jobs.
“We have about 115 tourism sites in the state and most of them are in their natural forms, we want individuals and corporate organizations who have the financial capacity to fund and manage the sites.
He lamented the negligence of the past administration on the development and promotion of tourism and promised that Engineer Seyi Makinde’s led administration
