Sport Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Oyo state Chapter on Wednesday elected new executive members.
The election was conducted by 3 man committee led by Mr Musliudeen Atanda of Daily post while Mr Ayodeji Ogunsakin. Vice President SWAN and Vice Chairman NUJ Mr Seye Ojo monitored the election.
Ayomiku Ajibola of NTA won the chairmanship election with 35 votes while his opponent Remo Koleoso scores 7 votes though he said he was not fairly treated by the association.
Other elected officials includes. Mr Gbenga Olugbod emerged the Vice Chairman, Mr Boluwaji Ogunmola, the Secretary, Anabel Enahoro as Assistant Secretary and Olawale Olaniyan Friday as Financial secretary.
The NUJ Vice chairman Mr Seye Ojo who led the NUJ delegation to monitof the election said the election was in order.
He congratulated the chairman elect and urge him to be magnanimous in victory ” this is an association of sport writers and you must operate with the spirit of sportsmanship, you must carry your opponent along and ensure unity.
He commended the electoral officers for a job well done.
Comrade Femi Amusan National Treasurer of the SWAN in his goodwill messages congratulated Ayo on his new attainment and urge him to direct the affairs of oyo SWAN with wisdom and ensure professionalism.
SWAN chairman, Lagos State Comrade Lagos Osundun in his goodwill message commended the South West VP and electoral officials for their wisdom and urge the new chairman to ensure harmonious relationship with the exco and the entire SWAN family.
The immediate past chairman , Alhaji Niyi Alebiosu thanks all the stakeholders for their perseverance and understanding, he said despite the threat and unwarranted insult from different quarters, members have comported themselves in a good manner.
He urged the new chairman to have a large heart and accommodate everybody.
While administering the oath of office on the newly elected official, SWAN South West President promised to ensure the association in the region is crisis free, he noted that all that has happened are part of election gimmicks.
He Congratulated the new executives and urge them to see their new post as a position of responsibilities which should be handled with pure and open mind.
