As a way to reducing immoral behaviours among school students in Oyo State, the state government is set to inaugurate a policy dubbed “Education Monitoring Marshalls”.
The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela disclosed this on Wednesday during a meeting held with the National Parent-Teacher Association of Nigeria, NAPTAN, Oyo state chapter.
Professor Olowofela assured that the policy will help in raising disciplined school children where tax force will be assigned to arrest and discipline students wandering out of school premises to change their attitude towards learning.
Olowofela noted that lack of discipline for the students has made many of the students to be wayward and engaging in devilish acts capable to promote moral decadence in the society.
While advising the parents on closer monitoring of their wards to prevent them from the increased moral decadence, he tasked members of the association to settle ripples among them to be able to achieve collective goals of promoting educational standard of their children.
He therefore thanked the state governor, Abiola Ajimobi for his unrelenting effort of achieving sustainable development despite his feat of second term in office.
He said the governor is physically and mentally alert to address issues which has resulted to the drastic improvements in all sectors in the state.
Also commending the giant strides of the governor, the chairman of the association, Comrade Moshood Toki said initially, the Educational Development Level was at about N3000 but for the convenience of the parents, he slashed it to N1000.
Added that the ‘No Automatic Promotion’ policy by the state government has resulted to excellent performance of the students saying the benefit is most visible in this year’s promotion examination where the students came out with flying colours.
He said: “The students scored 80℅ and above in the examination and this has brought sustainable solutions to the education sector in the state.
